When I make a change to a tag and then it saves automatically my data base clears out and it reverts to just that 1 song that I made a change to...My database has maybe 3500 songs so when it does this I have to reload the library unless there's another way to bring the library back
Do you have any filter active when you apply the changes?
Please check your statusbar on the lower right corner in such a case.
I don't think I have one active unless it was a default filter...any way to go back to the data base without reloading?
First, we would need to find the reason why your files have 'disappeared' from your File List. (Mp3tag has no database; it just has a library that helps to speed up the loading process.)
If you press F5 with no other changes, do the same tracks appear again?
F5 after the glitch occurs? I will try and see the next time I get one...Working on it now
Yes.
And please create a screenshot of your status bar and the filter region before you apply the changes (and if the tracks disappear take one more screenshot to compare them.)
I hit F5 nothing happens
That's pretty strange.
The first screenshot shows in the statusbar:
![]()
The second screenshot with only 1 tracks shows

So it seems that Mp3tag reloads the entire File List with only 1 entry and no filter is involved.
The path for your FLAC files seems to be the same.
If you manually reload your tracks in the same location, will all your tracks show up, including your latest changes?
Yes sir...when it returns from the save command it only returns the 1 file it saved...as if it was going to a new directory...I click file, change directory and it'll reload the directory as it should be...just sux cause its a playlist I'm trying to clean up with 3500+ songs I play at my business...It'd be fine if there was like a back button that went back to the previous screen but obviously there isn't so I'm not sure of any fix...just downloaded that latest version too a couple few weeks ago...was doing it b4 then too
Did you manually choose the exact same directory as before?
What exactly is the final change you make before the File List is emptied and refilled with only the most recently changed track?
The latest version is currently v3.30a
Are you saving your files to a local hard disk? If not, then as a test, copy some files to a local disk, edit some tags, save, and see if the problem persists after saving them.
Never changed the directory...Just changed a title or removed a track #...Just little things like that
I save them to my server
So please try the tests I suggested using another location.
I am also a little puzzled to what happens here - it is not the way I experience it.
So, what steps could I take to reproduce the behaviour?
How do you change title and remove track #?
The more detailed you describe each step, the easier it is to reproduce the behaviour.
In general: MP3tag keeps the original list loaded even if you apply a filter.
Also, refreshing a once loaded list with F5 should show the same list again.
So, you must do something in between.
Unfortunately it doesn't happen every time or the same way everytime...Here's my process
1.) Open mp3tag and select the directory (always off my NAS
2.) Currently 3424 songs in this one particular data base
3.) Once open I might "Select All" and the change the tagging information the tagging panel on the left..
or
I may select one entry and just change a particular tag of info by clicking on the list on the right or left.
4.) Either case, mp3tag then saves the info but diverts to that one line item only...An F5 refresh has no affect..
This morning I did an uninstall / re-install...I've been using the program for several years so not like I'm not versed but I also wouldn't say I'm an expert, hence why I posted...
Important to note it doesn't happen all the time so it's hard to reproduce it. I can go several tag changes before it happens or a complete session and it never occurs..
I'll try and move some stuff to my local HD and see if I can get it to reoccur
